Need help using Shelter Finder? Read the sections below for guidance.
Logging In
A user login is required to edit any shelter information. Simply enter the shelter’s username and password to
continue.
Counters
The counter page will display up to 3 counters. The counters that are displayed and the max occupancy for each
counter can be configured in the settings page. These counts are used in real-time to display the number of beds
available to first responders.
Settings
The settings page allows the following information to be set -
Shelter name, opening and closing time, current street address, capacity, phone number, and an option to
tell first responders to call if the shelter is full.
The counters can also be configured in the following ways -
Select “Male/Female” for both a male and female counter
Select “Non-Specific” for a single counter for both male and female occupants
Under “Family counter”, Select “Yes” to display a family counter
Finding Beds
To find beds, click on "find beds" in the navigation bar. You will be greeted with this grid, which contains
numbers from one to nine.
Once you have selected a number, you will be navigated to a page displaying a map, and all of the shelters in
your area. Shelters that have enough room for your requirements will be blue, and those that are full or closed
will be grey. To see more information about a shelter, tap or click on the icon and an information bubble will
appear.
Once you are done using the app, give us some feedback! Click or tap on the "feedback" button in the bottom
left-hand corner, and fill in the form that appears.
